Neither the Democrat Congress nor the Bush Administration is responsible for the price of oil.
And the subprime mortgage crisis was an event that was coming - the mortgages were out there, but the people hadn't hit the rate climb yet.
There are many things to criticize the Democrat Congress about - the endless politically-motivated investigations, the playing politics with the troops lives, the failure to curb the corrupt practice of earmarks, the failure to curb spending, etc, etc. - but this is not something that can be blamed on them.
The problem with this question and others like it from both sides is that it does not help anything, it illuminates no issues, and just wastes bandwidth, energy and effort.

Oil prices broke records with the comment about WW III from our illustrious president. The value of the dollar is also an issue which is because the money for the housing market came from foreign investment. It went down with the news that Iran stopped their nuclear weapons program in 2003 but is going back up again because our illustrious president says it only proves his point and nothing has changed.
Iran supplies oil to China and Russia and is now dealing in Euros instead of the U.S. dollar. That is what Saddam Hussein was doing. If that catches on, our currency will collapse. Look beyond party lines and see what is happening. Everything is on a global level now. Democrat/Republican issues are beside the point. That is why we have to get off of oil ASAP. Bush is not pushing for that and has said he will veto extreme efforts at conserving oil. Draw your own conclusions.

Who passed legislation (and who signed legislation, for that matter) mandating companies to make it easier for low income people to buy houses. Hint: It wasnt GWB!
Please tell me what the oil price has to do with having a democrat or republican in office.

Ya, now we have to get a Democrat in the White house to straighten all the mess out that the Republican congress racked up in the past 8 years. Boy, Repub Congress and White house not only didn't accomplish anything, it made things much much worse. Just hope for the best I guess.
