Exposure. Be around people that are different from you... those who have different view points, cultures, beliefs...
I surround myself with a wide variety of people because I like learning new things and gaining new insights.

I have a friend who go around the world for many years . I found that he has a much wider mind than anyone of my friend . I know that he reads both a lot of books and a lot of people and places . I think it is the main reason why he has a widen mind than us. Therefore I think the best way to expand your mind is to see more and to know more and read different kinds of books. Then you will see how you expand your mind.

The best way I found is to listen and to pay attention to the world around you. Take off the blinders and see. there is so much to learn by watching and listening. When you are learning somthing new, there is no such thing as a dumb question. Talk to people you work with get to know them a little you'd be suprised what you could learn from that strange and slightly annoying guy that everyone makes fun of. Just ask. If it interests you read about it you have the world of knowledege at your fingertips, Type away the questions and see what the world has to offer.

Reading, and reading from multiple viewpoints. e.g., if you're going to follow politics, you need to hear it from BOTH sides to reach some type of proper confusion. I also like to investigate court decisions, such as why Gay Marriage is legal is Massachusetts, while New York's court struck it down, to see the varying viewpoints of the law.
On more of a broader scale, doing your own "investigation" into whatever you want to is the best way to expand your mind. You can't believe what anyone's going to tell you, you need to do everything yourself if you want to know the truth.

As Coleridge wrote in his Biographia Literaria, in order to expand your mind you must suspend your disbelief.
