Sticks and stones are hard on bones
Aimed with angry art,
Words can sting like anything
But silence breaks the heart.

...silence breaks the heart...

A cold shoulder, or being ignored, hurts more?

I can interpret it. I wonder, can you?

A most obvious analogy, in offering my two cents, might be;

The better method of NOT incurring injury if a "Fight" is imminent, would be avoidance of the issue.

An old line. "Run away to fight another day" is probably an astute observation.

Silence can certainly have as much impact as a Punch.

Added thought since you don't allow connecting. You are correct, and as a Teacher I do often offer encouragement. In fact I never stated, or alluded to "Stupid", and certainly ignorance is no sin. I wish you well, and thank you for your response to my Q.
