We are wanting to rent this home out in the country and right now we are renting in town. My Husband and I always lived in the country all of our lives till this past 2yrs. and we can't stand it no more the place we are looking at has a older shed and 2 bedroom house and a 5 acre wooded lot with turkeys and deer all over. and we love that part of it too. but I'm asking is it worth $700 hundred a month and the house is is in good shape too. this home is in Wausau, Wisconsin. And it's quiet out there isn't other houses too close by. And we can afford to do the rent.not much more then what we pay now.Thank you let me know.

Only you can decide if this is what you want. If you like it and can afford it, go for it!

When evaluating affordability, keep in mind the extra costs you may be facing such as commuting costs, etc. And don't forget that utilities in rural areas can be more expensive than in town or in suburban areas so check the use history through the utility companies first.

One last suggestion. Most rural properties have well water and septic systems. Get the water quality checked before you move in! If there is a lot of agricultural or ranching activity in the area there may be issues with pollution from fertilizer or animal waste entering the ground water. You also want the septic system to be tested for proper operation so you don't have any surprises with sewage backing up into your home or cross pollution with the well water!

What is the question?

Is it should I rent this - just like anyting, can you afford it, do you really want it.

Now might be the right time to buy. That way you wont loose $700 a month.

You need to do a financial check up. Determine if you can pay the rent with only one check, from one income. If you are further from your jobs, you have to take into account possible expenses with your car, escalating gas prices, and a possible addition to the family.
