Why is there not a place on any ballot paper indicating that you do not wish any of the candidates to be your representative? Surely the way to be a true democracy is to give voters the ability to let political parties etc. know that voters are not wanting any of those put forward to be their representative. At present in UK, and I far I know nowhere else, is there a way of going to the poll and registering this. Hence we end up with governments wanted by, at most, 15% of the voters. This we are told is a democracy!

If a country somewhere did become a more real "democracy", I'm sure the U.S. would put an end to it and install a government that had "freedom" like us. :P

Your idea of putting a none of the above type choice on a ballot is great^^ I'd be willing to bet the first time it would be introduced, record numbers of voters would turn out to in fact show their disapproval.

First I consider that you in GB have a 'better' democracy than we in the USA because your parliament may call for a vote of no confidence at any time. I don't know how practical that is these days or when it was last used but at least it is there. And the Monarchy while important is only ceremonial. You have free trade, freedom to choose education and location, etc. and mostly the state doesn't impinge upon industry. Israel also has this but a ceremonial President instead of a monarchy and the mere threat of a vote of no confidence has caused the dissolution and reformation of the government through the election process many times in its short history. A perfect democracy would require rule by referendum and would be extremely awkward and likely unmanageable in large populations, but if anyone finds one please point me towards it.

If this were not a democracy, your question would not even be allowed. However, this is a democracy, and you are now participating in it, and your question is allowed, and don't you forget it!!!!!!!!!!

I guess we like to keep it simple, if you don't want anyone listed on a ballot, there is a space for a write-in candidate of your choice.

Now let's hurry up and do something in this democracy of ours and prove you can still come from nothing and make something of yourself, like so many millions have done before us. And let's stop complaining.
Thankyou.
