It is called Newton's Cradle.
1. You will need steel balls 12 - 25mm in diameter
2. Fishing line
3. Wire 16-18 ga
5. Copper wire 10 ga minimum [or wood planks 6-10mm square and 25 - 30 mm square planks ]
6. Wooden base ( pine would do)

1. Attach an eyelet made of 16-18 ga wire to the steel balls using epoxy. Best if you can drill a hole and place a wire through.

Make two parallel stands from 10 ga wire or wood. In case of wire solder evenly spaced eyelets or in case of wood drill appropriate holes.

Now just assemble to resemble the picture in http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/1550408/2/istockphoto_1550408_collision_balls_5.jpg

have fun

It's called Newton's Cradle. Here's a website for a homemake one.
