Little Papua New Guinea proved to be better leader than our Great United States of America. The representative from Papua New Guinea stated a quote that said "Lead or get out of the way".
He further stated "We ask for your leadership, we want your leadership, but if you are not willing to lead, get out of our way and let others lead"
"The U.S. stand had drawn loud boos and sharp rebukes — "Lead ... or get out of the way!" one delegate demanded "
It used to be in times like this the US Leadership was a given and unquestionable. What has happened to US? We have lost so much respect on so many levels and on so many issues?
For this and other instances, What is the best first step in regaining our role as the respected Leader of the Free World?

Yes locutus you are correct, that is why they ask for our leadership-They don't pollute, yet we are the largest polluter and it affects the entire world, even the samll part that Papua New Guinea occupies. We are F**ing up everyone esles back yard and are refusing to take accountability or action to clean it up.

To be a World Leader means you lead everyone, you set the example to all, not just the richest countries-like most who have answered this would have you believe. You can not lead by exclusion and arrogance and threats and bribary
This Climate Change Conference contained delegations from every country in the World, and all supported it except the US, and the posters here-Think that their small and diminishing group who Deny Global Warming are right and the Rest of the ENTIRE WORLD is wrong - now that's arrogance. Good luck ever being a leader at what ever job you do with that mentality.
Edit: DO you honestly think that deforestation, pollution and CO2 from cars and machinery that were not here before man, doesn't come with some consequences-or do you think there are never consequences for your actions?

The US waited until the last minute and said yes we now agree to a meeting in 2009 and the world cheered as though Cesar himself was there.

Was that not great leadership!!!!!

Because the US does not support junk science. The Climate conference was a political event not a scientific event.
Climate change cannot be debated by organizations like the UN or by politicians.
Right now it a sham just to sell carbon credit so that a few people get to become billionaires. This is the reason they do not let scientist have the confrerences and do the debating and testing the theories.

Why be a good leader if you are leading in the wrong direction. Let these countries ruin themselves, we don't have to be involved with them. We don't need them. These third world countries are trying to pull us down to their level, and we would be foolish to allow this to happen.

I am really concerned what a bunch of people who still practice cannibalism and live about 3 years out of the stone age think.

Get real.

And while you are at it, ask them how their deforestation is going.

if papua ng receives aid from america, halt it. poor countries dont have the right to disrespectfully demand money from developed nations. we sent our factories there, but after all, they agreed to them! takes two to tango.
