They bump in to each other. As with many animals the females will leave a scent when it is time for her to mate. The males will detect that in the little tunnels they make. Males will follow the scent until they locate the female.

Mating is like any other rodent, they can mate in a tunnel. Moles make dens. Moles also move around above ground, but usually at night.

The male mounts on the female and inserts its organ in the female generative aperture and ejaculates. The same way as rats and mice do.
