there are many people, and its a theme in a number of large religions , that the individual spirit can return to another life here on earth
so yes, you would be someplace before you are born here, and go on to someplace when your time here is done, then perhaps return again in another life
common reasons for returning is to learn and grow more, another one is to share what you know and benefit the earth and others
when my daughter was around 4, and an elderly neighbor passed on, i was thinking how to explain my beliefs to her,
before i could do that , she said "i think when you pass on, you go someplace, they give you candy to make you all better, and then you can come back if you want to"
wow, what it took me years to accept in my mind (the culture i was in did not accept multiple lives, though i felt deeply it was true) she summed up in one sentence
so i think often we are born knowing certain things, yet the influence of society doesnt recognize these beliefs, so they get pushed down until we forget about them

Well, alot of people believe that people have many lives. I've heard somewhere that before we're born, we sort of "write down" what we learn, not considering you know, how we will learn it. Like, lets say...I'm supposed to learn to stand up for myself in this lifetime (Idk if I am or not..but sure), anyways, thats what I "write down", I know alot of people on the other side who will be there in my lifetime to teach me things (good and bad). So, when I come here, maybe, I'm abused by my father. He kills my mother, I'm tramatized and EXTREMELY shy, but I never told my father to stop and people take advantage of me because I'm afraid to fight back. And on and on it goes until lets say, someone realizes I've married a guy who abuses me too and they get him arrested. I go to some classes or whatever, become friends with the neighbor who arrested him, etc, etc. and I learn how to be myself and stand up for who I am.
I just made that whole story up, but see?
Then, at the end of your life, you go back to the other side and evaluate it. Did you learn what you needed to? Or are you still too shy?
And it goes on and on and on for however many things you want to learn...But, I'm not saying this is the truth or not. Because truth is subjective anyways.
