This is what happened:

I'm at the checkout of the grocery store... Ditzy lady in front of me (she'd just paid for all her groceries and stuff) gets distracted and starts talking to someone she knows and bumped into, finishes convo, wanders off and goes to look through other stores completely forgetting about her trolley full of expensive looking things. Whilst my friend is paying for our groceries, I chased after her with her trolley.

I caught up with her and said "excuse me, is this your trolley?" she says "uh, yes it is" (her tone of voice was that she seemed pissed off that I disturbed her window shopping) so I said "well, you left it back at the grocery store" she just looked at me with a cold expression and says "oh ok"

It was like a slap in the face... I should have walked off with her trolley, shouldn't I???

There was no mistake, she didn't leave it there on purpose, she just forgot about it.

next time I might not be so nice.

what would you do???

yep. ppl are a.holes...

normally I think "what would I hope someone would do if this happened to me", but I guess thesedays you just have to not concern yourself with other peoples problems (unless they are old or disabled people)

I probably would hve just pushed the cart out of the way, and let the cashier know that the lady forgot her purchases. But you did what you thought was the right thing to do.

In this day in age,it is hard to find someone like you with such an honest heart. It is a shame that it was wasted on the person you have just described. Just don't let that deter you in being the person that you are.
This world needs more people like you.

That woman had issues, but you did the right thing. Don't change the way you are, just because someone's too rude (or sick) to thank you properly.
I believe we all get what we deserve (eventually). For instance, maybe your next boyfriend will be smart - and rich!
Happy Holidays.

She may have been embarrassed and didn't react well. You did a nice thing. Most people appreciate things like that. Continue to do them. It will make you feel good and help those around you feel better.

Hmmm... how about, feed your ego elsewhere?
Seriously, it's not that the lady did something mean to you. She was just tired or something. People should stop doing good things just to get praised in the end. People should do good things simply because they are good and NOT COMPLAIN about being unrecognized about it.

She must be in the early stages of Dementia or Alzheimer's!!!

There always has to be a reason for people to react that way.

Oh and you did the right thing..I can imagine how you felt.

Merry Christmas!!!!

What would I do? I'd just carry on regardless.

I can't see what the big deal is here.
