Have you tried targeted pain medications? Some people seem to be against them but honestly for most people they work very effectively and they are not harmful. Ask at your pharmacy for period pain medication. The best one is naproxen, and its brand name is Midol or Naprogesic (depends where you go) or you can get it generic.

If you are bedridden, you should see a gyno. I had the same thing every month and found out I had endometriosis. The doctor will be able to give you some treatment options.

Eating things rich in iron during that time such as spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course) can also be of help.

Because of the cramping causing you to be bedridden I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.

naprosen, ibuprofen, or midol work for a lot of my friends. My cramps hurt so bad I have to get prescribed pain killers to knock out the pain. If OTC meds don't help you any I'd suggest going to a gyno and see if they can help you.
