I think amon amarth falls more into melodic death metal. although some of their songs fall into or have viking metal themes, most are melodic death metal (:

Labels, labels, labels. I remember when it was simply called "rock". Why is everyone so obsessed with giving every damn band a specific label ? Never even heard of "melodic" death metal and Viking metal ???? Do they wear those helmets with the horns ? Viking metal - I'd thought I'd heard everything, and I'm a musician!

Yeah, the labels kinda get annoying but its an easy way to categorize and sub-categorize.
otherwise that is pretty arguable, I'd lean more toward melodic death metal, cause when I hear Viking Metal, I think Korpiklaani with their chants and wierd background instruments.

a number of those like Blinded Colony have been terrible. Gates of Ishtar, Mercenary, Skyfire, Darkane and Arsis are the only ones that have released something i in my view delight in, i've got basically ever listened to Gates of Ishtar and Darkane via selection; the others grew to become into in simple terms reason acquaintances like them. In close eye, Noumena, The Arcane Order, Into Eternity, Arkan and Sylosis are extra desirable than maximum something yet nevertheless meh. I woulda thought that Mercenary, Into Eternity and Arsis have been almost as massive as Scar Symmetry. This record woulda been a a techniques extra desirable waste of my time if it had some good bands like Eucharist, Arghoslent, The Chasm, Unanimated, Evocation, gut Baalism, Vehemence, blablabla. I propose they are all extremely demise steel, tremendously melodic (and not interior the completely regularly occurring way of maximum of those bands) and disgustingly neglected.

Labels are annoying. In my library they are simply metal. If I had to go further it would be viking metal; many of their songs include lyrics like "Odin, guide our ships...", if that isn't Viking I don't know what is.

I whole-heartedly agree with Victor. But if I had to pick an actual label that you have posted, I would have to go with Viking metal.
