I am bachin' and I don't have one. I don't really miss it, I just reheat on the stove. I probably miss the clock more than anything. I don't think it's redundant, humans are getting lazier and lazier.

Redundant means there's already something else out there that does what a microwave does. I can't think of anything can you?

I can do without one but as long as it is available I can spend one day a week cooking--sun/Mon--and freeze portions of great meals for the week--stick them in the microwave during the week and zap--ready to eat--don't have to wash any pots and pans etc.--I don't like the idea of so many of them running at once throughout the world but we are out worst enemies.

I need one. Every time mine goes berserk and don't work I replace it. I use it for reheating.
