Battery is usually CR2032 lithium cell that looks like a silver coin. It costs less than a $. Just be sure PC is unplugged when you replace it.

When installed, power ON PC, then press Del or F2 to open BIOS menu. Load fail safe defaults, save and exit. You are back in business.

Open the CPU using a Philips screw driver.
In the motherboard you will easily find a holder with a round silver colored battery. Just remove it and replace it.
You can use Atomic Clock or Chameleon Clock for updating the clock.

Amit has posted a good answer. Changing the battery - once it is exposed - is easy. However, if you are not especially technical, the risk factor is higher, as you will need to at least partially disassemble your laptop in order to access the motherboard. Laptops are not like PCs... everything is cramped and customized for each model to maximize space. This means that if you are not fully confident or skilled, you could - depending on the model - easily damage something. Taking stuff apart is usually pretty easy... putting stuff back together is the challenge! Locate the manual before attempting it. If you can't get the manual, then a shop might be the best bet. Good luck!
