Even in America in the year 2007 there are abundances of homeless people without food, in the cold, in the heat that have need of medical attention... If you could see to it that these people were taken care of, what is it that you would do to meet their needs? Naming all the major needs and providing all the care and training for them in so much as their immediate needs were met and there long term needs are met. As they say, give a man a fish and he will eat today. Teach a man to fish and he will never go hungry. Therefore, with this in mind, where do we go from here with abundances of homeless people in need to having a place for the homeless, with food, shelter and training for tomorrow. While this is a good medium to start and I look forward to hearing all of your responses, and will take all the action on my end, doing what I can to help, it will be helpful if a consensus is reached that you also become involved by contacting your mayor, state assemblyperson and congressperson

Although there are some homeless as a result of unfortunate circumstance there are far more as a result of drug and alcohol addictions. I have been around homeless people and been involved in street level aid to the homeless. most of those i talked to are not as unhappy as you might think! persons who are relatively sane and are not homeless because of circumstance, drugs, alcohol or physical disability seem to have made a decision to be who and what they are. I don't believe any amount of help can change that and i don't believe they genuinely want change even offended by our assumption they do. while many want help they want that help without strings attached!! they have chosen to live the way they out of a rejection of mainstream sociological values for all of their grumblings I found that most of them were actually relatively happy just as they are free from responsibility, answer to no one, living where and how they want. the core issue is willingness something you cannot give to anyone, but don't be duped by the "poor Me's" they often need help but save your time and money do not require or expect change.

We should have labor camps.
Have you paid any attention to the American roads and highways?
Trash on either side from sea to shining sea.
Amber waves of fast food wrappers and paper cups on either side of the road for as far as one can see.
First of all why?
But that's for another post!
What's wrong with the homeless and their families, in exchange for food and shelter, walking along the highways and picking up trash?
A rhetorical question because in America most everyone feels entitled to have everything provided to them for free.
This is why Hillary Clinton gets votes,
A lot of people believe that requiring someone to actually do something in order for them and their family to survive is an intolerable idea and requiring the homeless (or anyone) to work to survive is out of the question.

Some of the homeless need mental help to get on their feet. While getting that help they need food shelter and clothes.
Some are homeless because of sudden circumstances e.g home burned down etc. The also need the same help and ins, money to rebuild.
Some have no job skills, and need training.
Some coming out of jail cannot get employment.

They all need a roof over their head, meals and clothes...until they get on their feet...
The Government can ATTEMPT TO HELP!

Poverty is a disease.the problem is nobody knows how to cure it.All we ever do is treat the systems, but nobody has found the cure.By giving these people food and shelter does not solve the problem.Yes we need to educate them, but you can`t teach someone if they don`t want to learn.
I would have a farm were they would have to work for there food and shelter.I would try to offer as much education opportunities has i could provide. The truth is i believe i still would only have limited success.

It is easier said than done. The reason there are homeless is because of the disbandment of mental hospitals.

Do we lock the mentally ill away?? Which you can imagine leads to a bit of corruption? Or do we tolerate the unsightly "crazies"n the street.

There are no easy answers and blaming Republicans or Democrats: depending on your party makes you look mindless and stupid.

i would provide instant safe place to sleep, feed and clothe everyone. i would have a program that would put them in a apartment rent free for a year, give them medical care [ as needed] dental care and other care as needed . i would furnish the apt with furniture, household items...i would also have a "employment agency" program that would find jobs for those who could work and if disabled i would work to get them either social security or state disability.... there would be counseling available for those who wish to have it....

So you think its an education issue? Interesting. There's another saying "God helps those who help themselves". What you may think is help, in reality appears to them as infringement of their rights.
