I would not try as it will probably break. although if it is not tempered you may have a better chance, if it is tempered forget it.
A glass cutter will not cut the glass like you want it either......

Drilling Toughened Glass

DO NOT TRY! All shower screens are toughened glass and as such are not processable. Toughened glass cannot be drilled or cut once toughened. A new screen can be bought quite cheaply if you go direct to the processor. In the North I would recommend European glass, manchester. They also have a plant in London. The midlands are best served by Watsons glass in Birmingham. Scotland you have Independant Glass. All numbers will be on the net.
If you break toughened glass, which you will, it explodes with quite a force, I know from personal experience!

It won't work. Shower doors are made with tempered glass. It can't be drilled after it is tempered. If you try the glass will shatter into 1/2 " pieces. Tempered class can not be cut either. All cutting and drilling is done before the glass is tempered.

dont even think about it the glass in the majority of cases is safety glass and it will just shatter. even the vibration from a high speed drill just touching the glass may cause it to shatter believe me it is not a good idea

Two choices - use a smaller bolt,or replce the door with one with the desired bolt hole. Drilling tempered glasss is impossible for a DYI'er without shattering it.
