One of the 8800GTS will come very close to the Ultra, hence two in SLI will easily be much better. Oh by the way, the Ultra was on a 90nm and the 8800GTS is on a 65nm.

Get 2 of the new G92 Core 8800 gts! The 8800 Ultra is a sick card but it is based off the older 92 nm technology.....one Ultra can still kill an 8800gts but 2 of the new 8800gts's will DESTROY an 8800 Ultra. The new G92 core is built on newer 64nm technology, meaning it has a smaller core for less power consumption AND holds more transistors, meaning way processing of graphics data!

They are making a new higher end G92 Core to replace the 8800 Ultra....it should come out by March. But I wouldn't wait around to get it, I would go with the 2 8800gts (G92)

SLI isn't all it's cracked up to be.....

one beefy card vs two good cards and the B A card wins

cons of SLI
more power consumption
more heat
more clutter
compatibility issues (games a software that have issues with it and/or don't use it to it's full extent)
no upgrading in the future (like later you can get another ultra and put in SLI)
you have to have an SLI based mobo
the single ultra would be faster because both cards are not being used %100 when in SLI

anyways my suggestion would be to wait a bit for the GeForce 9 series or like the 8950 to be released it's only a couple months and in the end you'll be more happy

but to be honest in this case you can't go wrong with either.... both set ups will rock
