god and all his parts are just as imporant it how you get god. god is faith, making something become what the world needs, more than anything being so we can love.

life is moving because of that universal energy you are correct, created so creation can use that energy to support a whole world through the miracle of evolution to get to spiritual enlightenment which is the living god in us being us, so as a whole all together we will create the ultimate story that will suit us all along with a god that will evolve with us.

Both. There is the reality of God, and we are creating our ideas about God. Unfortunately we have our ideas about God much more than we have the experience of God. And we don't realize how extremely limited our ideas are. And since each of us has different ideas, and they are all extremely limited, we are constantly getting into conflict with one another about our ideas about God. The experience of God, on the other hand, is unifying, because it is the experience of One.

I knew several Episcopal priests once who said that people would be better off if they banned the use of the word "God" for about ten years. Then people would have to talk about their experience, rather than arguing about their ideas.

Oh, I just love Kelly's answer. There's someone whose never had a thought enter her head.

This isn't a new question. It goes back to the Greeks, as most things do. Is there a kind of Platonic realm of Truth, from which all our truths emenate (You could call this God if you want, Plato wouldn't have)? Since Nietzsche and Hume this has become less and less tenable. Let me give you some links:

http://realserver.bu.edu:8080/ramgen/w/b/wbur/connection/audio/2000/07/con_0727a.rm (AUDIO - philosophers Richard Rorty and Daniel Dennett, arguing about philosophy of science)

http://www.marxists.org/reference/subject/philosophy/works/us/rorty.htm (Rorty's preface that explains his views on Truth)

I'm generally right with Rorty on a lot of things.

Depends what you mean by a god... (whoops Freudian slip I typed dog there for a moment!)

There isn't any evidence or proof. What do you think of as god? To me a non-religious person, I don't believe in A god, (as a person) but I do have a spiritual side and beliefs. I believe in a "life force" and universal energy. I think some people choose to give this a human form and name it god. But to me it isn't a person as such. But I do believe in a universal life energy.....

God isn't based on knowledge, people usually create god by their beliefs and faith. There isn't any knowledge, proof or evidence about it.

Hello.
Would you rather live in a world where there is some kind of wholesome master creator, with advice on how to live together well in that world OR
Would you rather live in a world where everything comes from your own proven skills, own advice, and nothing to look forward to beyond our living? You won't need Hope this way at least! Nothing to be held accountable for, either.
Man's knowledge creates plenty of 'gods' for himself. I'm typing on one of them now...it only serves it's own purposes. That's okay, because so does much of mankind today.(they've nothing else to look toward, you see).
This Creator/Deity idea, however, offers something beyond itself and us.It offers some Hope.
So your answer is this; Which do you want to choose?

Both, and then some.

Generally, as people, we look for more then we are given and seek proof of God rather than the importance of the teachings.

right now, either of the two... no one's sure

speaking in religious terms, there's a god, but otherwise, no... scientifically no coz there's no proof... you know them scientists...

but what normal people, and probably even you believe, is that there's a god, and we're already living by the thought

2007-12-15 21:40:05 · answer #6 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

that would depend on what a god would mean to you
