Q: What is the differences for men and woman regarding Maternity leave?
A:[comic reply]: In my part of the world men don't get pregnant!
In Sweden [not my part of the world] a few years ago (may be things are different now): one year paid leave is a right. This can be shared between mother and the farther in any way they choose. Further unpaid time off is also possible.

I believe that women are entitled to upto a years maternity leave, only 26 wks of which is paid leave.
men are now entitled to two weeks paid paternity leave.
Good luck to your friend with this Sparkles it's an absolute minefield!
I'm fairly sure it also depends on how long you have worked for a company as to how long you get (think the minimum is a year).

Depends on where you live really. Dad's mainly draw the short straw on this one and get little or no paternity leave and sometimes this has to be taken from there holiday time. In Ireland there is no Paternity leave and 6 months Maternity leave

Men should only get paternity leave if they spend the time helping with the baby and not using it to go down to the pub and "wet the baby's head".
Otherwise they should stay at work!

The rules on that vary by country and state. You would need to be more specific.

women carry the bump as well as breastfeed the said bump once its out therefore they need to have longer rest. men on the otherhand can only give some assistance but nothing much therefore they dont need a longer leave. so if men are willing to carry the bump and breastfeed it as well, id be more than happy to trade places with them
