They're getting pretty philosophical down here. How can I gently persuade them to go to their rooms and leave me alone?

Are they actually in your room, or are they invited guests?
If no, you'll have to ignore then and try and get some sleep. The next night ask for a different room and tell them why, you may get a comp meal out of it.
There's not much you can tell a drunk.

Call the manager. If they don't calm down then they usually kick them out of the hotel.

tell them that it is time to go to bed.. and that it is too early in the morning, that you havent got any rest... they may get the hint... if not, tell them that you will have to call the police.

You cannot reason with a drunk..you leave them alone and go to your room ...or one of theirs ,if they are in your room...go go go!!!!!!!!!
