I found a really nice black and white drawing and i thought it could look nice on my wall, but directly on it. I'm sick of sticking papers on my wall i want something that looks clear, perfect. I like painting and if i train a bit on a scrap before going on to the wall im sure i could manage (with the outlines in pencil). But theres just one problem...my parents don't want me, cause then when i won't want it anymore i will have to paint my room again. But i really like it and i'm sure i will like it after a year or two so how can i persuade them ??
ps: if i dont like it anymore ill just have to stick a poster on it huh ??

I actually did the same thing when I was a teen. My parents were very encouraging and allowed me to 'decorate' my room with my artwork directly onto the wallpaper. When I left home they never removed it, and every time we visit my husband and I always have a peek in my old bedroom to look at the walls.
I am sure if you guarantee that if you change your mind about the painting you will either paint over it or place another work of art on top of it, your parents will allow it.
In the great scheme of things, it isn't a big deal. I know my parents, by keeping my room the way it was, somehow held on to a little bit of me even after I left home.
Good luck.
xx

Am not sure which approach you should take. My 14 and 1/2 year old son wants the walls of his room white so he can paint on them. Am going to let him, cos it can always be papered over in the future.
It's a wall, it's not the end of the world. When you eventually leave home they will probably redecorate your room. My parents did. Very few parents keep their children's rooms like they are just in case they come back.

I like the idea of painting something in black on your wall. If you did get sick of it, you would just have to paint that spot, or at worst just the one wall. They need to see the big picture, no pun intended. In the scheme of your life, this is so insignificant. Tell them they should encourage your artistic and creative pursuits. If my daughter wants to do that when she's a teenager I'll let her, or even help her.

Well I think it's a great idea! It's not like it's the end of the world if you have to repaint later.....and it's good "training" for you... maybe you will get a lot of positive answers and can show them to your folks..... Mom and Dad, lighten up let this kid paint away!!!

Correct, all very valid answers. What you might gently tell your parents is this. I use this all the time. "The good news about paint, is that it can be painted over." AND, Mom & Dad, "I'll" do that, should I ever tire of the sketch."

sounds good to me, how old are you? you sound old enough to know that its your responsibilty if you want to change it, tell them that you are willing to pay for the paint, for the picture, and for painting over it if you get bored with it, my sister had a picture painted on her wall, and loved it, my step brother painted pictures on his bedroom wall, and they stayed, and after a few years were easy enough to paint over, so go for it, tell your parents maturely that it is your bedroom, they dont have to see it, so it doesnt really effect them, but dont be rude hehe

Could you rig it up so that you could project what you want on to the wall to show your parents what it is your are wanting to achieve. you could then discuss what would be acceptable and what would not and come to some agreement to suit you all.

Tell them it's not permanent and you'll be willing to paint over it when you don't like it anymore. By showing them you'll be responsible for it you may be able to persuade them.
