Obviously, the surface would be prepared appropriately ... but i'm looking for a printer that will print directly on to wood. I'm sure there would be one as toy manufacturers cant just enploy artists to paint pic's on to their wooden goods. I also realise that some manufacturers print stickers to put onto their wooden goods, but there has to be a printer that would print on to a flat wood surface. Please help

as far as i know, toy companies use big bulky machines made specifically for toy manufacture and not for home use. they are configured to print out the whole toy, about hundreds of them every day.
