Pakistan is a key ALLY of the US, not an enemy! It was Pakistan's airspace that was used to bomb Afghanistan and even today it is used for small missions in the region. The only problem with Pakistan (apart from internal political turmoil which is no business of the US) is its proximity to Afghanistan which has resulted in an extremist indigenous population of Pakhtun origin. They constitute a very small part of the country whereas the rest is like any developing country. I have spent 27 years of my 28 in that country so trust me, I know what I am talking about.
Moreover Pakistan only produces 67,000 barrels of crude oil a day so there is no incentive to venture there. Obama said something to the effect of “military action within Pakistan” being a possibility which appalled everyone in Pakistan. If anything, the streets of Lahore are safer than NY and BTW Islamabad (the capital) is one of the safest cities on earth. Pakistan is not the gun-wielding desert that you think it to be thanks to the news. I moved out of there a year ago but such ignorant comments still amaze me.

The commission also expressed particular concern about the nuclear programmes of Iran and North Korea, and about Pakistan, which it described as 'the intersection of nuclear weapons and terrorism.' It warned that there is a threat of nuclear terrorism, both because more countries are developing nuclear weapons and because some existing nuclear powers are expanding their arsenals. 'Terrorist organizations are intent on acquiring nuclear weapons,' said the report, which was published Tuesday on the internet and will be officially released Wednesday. It cited testimony before the commission from former Senator Sam Nunn, who said that the 'risk of a nuclear weapon being used today is growing, not receding.' The commission was created in line with a recommendation from the 9/11 Commission on the Sep 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US. i think it may be

The U.S. will not attack Pakistan directly.
It will fund subversion efforts, such as was done in Iran in 1950's.
The U.S. will fund any group that it thinks has a chance of installing a stable and submissive dictatorship in Pakistan.

Don't worry the US is not going to attack Pakistan.
However, there may be some multinational corporations interested in buying it and breaking it up into smaller parts that can be sold off at a profit.
