The saddest scene from a movie is from Midnight Cowboy when Ratso died on the bus. The shot with Joe holding Ratso's dead body and there's a reflection of palm trees as they just reached Miami.
The music, the shot, the expression, I cried.

Another one is from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. I'm talking about the first time you see the movie, not the second, third or many more viewings.
When The Chief was holding McMurphy who was just lobotomized and didn't respond at all to him, the The Chief put him up and hugged him and said "I'll take you with me, Mac. Let's go!". That scene made me cry, as it was so sad because Nurse Ratched technically won, but the next scene was somewhat uplifting. The second time I saw this I thought it was a very happy ending.

The saddest movie I've ever seen is 'The Other Side of the Mountain' the true story of Jill Kinmont. If ANYONE can watch that movie without crying, you have no heart!

But yes, the dog dying in 'I Am Legend' was very, very sad, as was Jack dying in 'Titanic.'

I have never cried while watching a movie i. the last 6 years with one exception. I watch Marley & Me before, and cried. Then some months back I watch the end scene, and I cried once more. I also learned that my stone cold heart is made of metal, because we watched a texting and driving documentary in school and I felt no emotion for the loss, or disability of human lives. When they talked about the dog that was struck, the lava that pumps my metal heart, melted the metal. But I still have no heart for humans. Dogs are my weak spot, and I have my own dog, so thats probably why.

There are many movies that have made me cry for different reasons. The first time I saw "Pearl Harbor" I cried so hard, my boyfriend wouldn't let me watch it again for a long time. Recently "Rent" is the movie I cry to every time I see it (and that's been about 20 times now) The scene where they are at the Lifeline meeting and the one guy starts singing "Will I lose my Dignity?" and everyone joins in.

Instinct
Anthony Hopkins' character lying on the ground staring into the eyes of the gorilla who is dying because of the poachers Hopkins inadvertantly drew to them. He is narrating that there was no blame in the gorillas eyes.

In fact I'm crying now, thanks a lot! :>)

Saddest scene in a movie based on ideas from the greatest book ever written "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn. "Based on Ideas" because this book could never be recreated on film.
