I remember laying on the couch at my grandparents house
and I was staring at the lights on the Christmas tree in the
front corner of the living room. I wanted to see what my new
baby cousin was looking at that had kept his eyes glued to
it. He was just an infant, and I was about two. I was fascinated
by seeing a baby for the first time and his eyes just shined
from the reflection of the lights. So when he was picked up,
I took his place out of curiosity. And I saw what he saw from
that angle and I knew that he saw the same magic, that I did.
This was also the time when my grandpa had brought in a
magnificant machine that recorded everyones' voices. And
grandpa played our voices back to us after we'd talked into
the machine. I didn't sound like "ME" at all. And told them so.
And everyone laughed. Because no one sounded like them-
selves, they told me. And that I couldn't understand. Then we
all stood around and sang a Christmas carol, and it was so
much fun. And our singing was recorded too, and played back for us all to hear. Then the intrument was put away, and
I never saw it again. It was the only time I remember being in
that particular house on a Christmas Eve. Or a Christmas
dinner. Their kitchen was too small for a big gathering. It was
not long after, they bought a farm, and we did enjoy gatherings there for Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day dinner. And one especially, when all but one of our mothers'
family was on hand for a reunion. Those were happy days.

I remember seeing a GIANT grasshopper on a window. When I described the window to my mother, she said it was in a house where we lived in Tennessee. I was 2-3 years old when we lived there.
Mom also said the grasshopper wasn't giant -- I was just small!

Probably 3 years old when I went to Farm School (which is another way of saying Nursery School.) I can't exactly picture it but I vaguely remember it.
