No, it was different... however bending the rules is widespread in football - it's only called cheating for New England because they got caught.
Also, last I checked, the game is still played on the field. I don't think sign stealing is going to make much of a difference as teams attempt to do this all the time - with varying success. Unless one team gets caught spiking the other teams Gatorade or paying off refs, these cheating scandals are really meaningless.

Not even close to the same thing. The Jets were taping the action on the field while the Pats were taping defensive coaches in order to steal their signs (or to be able to recognize signs the next time the two played each other). The only real beef between the two teams over this has been the Jets saying they had permission from the Pats and New England saying they didn't give permission. They haven't been accused of taping signals.

Jasone, (disagreements this morning aside), i think of that each and every NFL team has tried to income an greater hand with the aid of a number of types and rule stretching at it slow or yet another. hence many coaches hide their mouths (sometimes with a clipboard) while calling out the subsequent play out to the QB. i think of the commissioner got here down annoying on the Patriots because of the fact he had sent out a memo to the league till now the season all started warning them that "filming" regulations would be strictly enforced this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. He pronounced himself that the heavy wonderful against the Patriots became into in basic terms a plenty a message to something of the league and coaches because it became into against the Patriots. The Patriots broke the regulations, paid some stiff fines and attempt to go previous it.

Last year in the playoffs the Jets ASKED FOR AND GOT PERMISSION to tape from the Endzones, nothing wrong with that. Then the Patriots took away the permission and the cameras were taken away. They were following the rules of the NFL. The Patriots WEREN'T following the rules of the NFL. They didn't have permission, and the angles were TOTALLY different.

The Jets were given permission to have ONE camera at ONE end of the field... they had 2 cameras one at each end of the field... they were asked to stop using 1 of the 2 cameras, they complied, and no complaints were made....

Not exactly the same they were filming, All games are filmed by other teams. but you are not allowed to be film from field level you are supposed to be in covered area. The Jets were on an uncovered mezzanine and had to stop filming

The difference is that the Patriots ALLOWED the Jets to have the cameras face that direction. There's a difference between being ALLOWED to do it and doing it illegally.

I certainly hope they were not cheating too, because if they were cheating and still played that bad, they should not be fined or suspended, they should all be fired and replaced with competent players and coaches.
