Does it have to function? In what context will this be used? Why not just use a clock, OR an hour glass?

Do you literally have to fabricate this? I used to make Artistic clocks using clock motors, now sold at most major Craft stores.

Again, what is the context of Passage of time? You could create a clock face, even like one I made, that was a half Sun/Moon. All I added were the numbers 1; 2; then "etc." for #3. OR...You might make a clock face that numbers to a certain time of night, and for the remainder of the numbers; IE: normal sleep hours, just add ZZZZZZZZ.

You could paint a picture with numbers floating amongst the clouds.
