“He was thinking about invading Iraq in 1999,” Herskowitz told Baker. “It was on his mind. He [Bush] said to me: ‘One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief.’ And he said, ‘My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it.’ He said, ‘If I have a chance to invade, if I had that much capital, I’m not going to waste it. I’m going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I’m going to have a successful presidency.”

10 days or so after 9/11 a decison was made to invade Iraq no inteligence linking them to the incident

The General on the tape outlines a plan to take out 7 nations in 5 yrs

The inteligence for these wars most of which did not happen but Iraq did more than suggest that the intel - had to fit the political objective

Are you accusing Clinton of lying?

Who signed into law the "Iraqi Liberation Act" of 1998?

And what were the reasons given for this new legislation, where Congress gave Clinton the power to begin replacing Saddam Hussein with an American-picked puppet government?

Hint: the reasons given are in the opening sections of the law.

(Yes, that puppet-government was specified in the legislation, and yes, military action was also authorized.)

Look back at all of your communist liberal candidates that are running for president and see what they said about the WMDs. Prior to 9/11. If he lied, it's because he was lied to, and a lot of your friends were the ones telling him. Like Hitlary, Peloser and a host of other prominent communist liberals. One exception was Obama. He knew what damage the U.S. would do to his muslim brothers if we went after them. That's why he voted against the war.

All the democrats lied then, because they voted to go to war with Iraq, and most of them agreed long before George got elected that Saddam had WMD's. So don't give us that crap that Bush lied. It just doesn't fly!

Problem is that long before Bush was talking about invading Iraq, leading Dems in congress were bleating about the threat that Iraq and Saddam posed to the region. Now who did the real lying, Clinton and his party or Bush for believing what they said?

I believe he believed the lies. He is not a very smart man, and goes by what Cheney tells him - he really thought the lies were the truth.

I would believe this before I would fall for the "war for oil" crap. He's a politician, with an agenda. In my book that makes him capable of most anything.

Are you serious...years later & you are still arguing this point. My gosh get over it. Nothing you can do about your 'lie' issue is there?
We are there, now what?
Your statement is moot & boring.
