According to the Wikipedia web site about the Royal Mail, the newspaper that asserted that it is treason to place a stamp upside down provides, "no source . . . and none of the various Treason Acts make any mention of postage stamps." Presumably, franking machines don't notice whether the stamps are placed upside down or not.

Suppose you turn the envelope upside down, then write the address, then attach the stamp upside down....

They'll deliver your letter, but just make sure it's the correct size & weight for the price of the stamp you've put on it.

If you mean "upside down".......yes they will.
But first of all they will come and find you - drag you too the nearest letter box.
Tie you to it with barbed wire and beat you black and blue with all of the junk mail they can gather. You will stay there for a million years........xxx

Yes it will and no one will give it a second glance. You would not however be so fortunate if you did this in many other countries in the world, especially dictatorships!

stamps have a magnetic strip in them nowadays i think, and the computer scans that, and as long as it can read there's a stamp, it'll get there

Yes, it will.
BUT, as has already been said, showing disrespect to the monarch is still against the law in England and Wales, and you could, in theory, be punished for this offence.
