Thank you for the knowledgable and propfessional answers. FOR the sarcastic ones, like...if you were phished how did you know??? Well, myspace sent me a notice and warned me that I was phished and to change passwords etc. SOOOO, if you can't be knowledgable and professional like the others....as least try being nice, OR dont respond.

Phishing is replacing the page a person is used to seeing with an exact replica hosted on a different server (e.g home.myspace.com is not the same as home.myspace.freeserver.com) but to someone who was not paying attention or didn't know any better it would appear the same. The unwitting user inputs his user name and password (to the wrong server) and is immediately redirected to the real page, and is asked to reenter the information and he does and gains access to his page. Meanwhile, the information has been collected on the phishing server and now the phisher has access to that user's account.

Phishing is where you log onto myspace but its not really myspace. Always check the address bar before signing in. Particularly when you click on something and you all the sudden sign out. Close your browser and then sign in again by typing it in the address bar. Its for bank websites too you have to be care full cause they still your password.

You got tricked into typing your password into a site that *looked like* myspace but wasn't really myspace. Bad guys got your password and the rest is history. Phishing as in - trying to get you to bite

You accidentally enter your password and username on a fraudulent site. The site was made to LOOK like Myspace but it actually sends your information to a program that this guy made. The program then sends obnoxious bulletins or messages with advertisements in them on your account.

It's when somebody hacks you're account through illegitimate means. Usually it's just for advertising and they don't bother with they personal information.
