I'm starting a new project where i sell my paintings and give some of the profit to charities.

supplies cost about 5-7$ each painting...

what percentage of the profit would be reasonable to keep?

I want a good amount, but i also want people to buy them for a good cause!

Keep enough you are making a wage for painting them equal to a job you could get. So if you are worth $20 an hour and it takes you 4 hours to paint you should keep 85-87 and give the rest to charity. If you aren't selling for that much consider just giving a percentage like 5% to the charity but make sure you tell the buyers not let them think it is all for charity.

It is difficult to answer without specifics, but as long as you are reasonable and all will be fine. Keep a "reasonable" amount of profit from each sale to satisfy your own needs and give the balance to charity.
