I shudder at the shallowness. How can you be so materialistic? More money = more problems and more taxes and more junk in your mailbox and all over your house. More people clamoring for the right to be an heir to your fortune and more fake smiles and empty handshakes. If I make it big time, I will lock it up in a bank account somewhere for an rainy day and try to live a normal life. I want people to want me for me. And I guess I'd have to give to a good cause too, but it'd be anonymous.

Yes this does make something that is supposed to be one of the most special and sacred acts a couple could experience in their lives absolutely meaningless. One of the worst outcomes of this selfishness is if they have children. They would be the ones to really suffer the consequences.
The society we live in now has made people totally lose all perspective on whats really important in life and I hate to be so cynical but I don't see things are going to change.
There are still people that know whats important and necessary in life and they will be the ones that can make some difference even if they are out numbered.

That's absolutely dreadful. Also a damn fine reason to avoid the whole institution of marriage altogether. Marrying a person does not 'take love a step higher', it's a legally binding contract that allows one party or the other to sue their partner upon dissolution. How romantic!
Much like 'civil unions', there really ought to be a different classification of marriage (give it another name) ... y'know, for people who actually *love* one another and whom do not believe marriage is a source of free money or a means to propel one's way up through teh social strata.
This current trend is pretty gross, yeah.

I'd disagree that they particularly make me angry but I personally hate them. But it's not that I am angry about them because that's their lifestyle which I don't want to pay attention to, nor get involved. Just try to avoid that kind of people and meet only good ones as many as possible..

You know, if somebody came up to me on the street and said, "I'll give you 1.5 million to marry me" I would say that the thought would tempt me for a moment, but I couldn't do it. I married for wrong reasons in the past (not money) but I would only marry for true love in the future.

Lots of people are hopeless. These people are just too rich to care.
It would be nice to have the kind of money necessary not to care...

If the person who has the money knows what they are getting themselves into then I don't think it's wrong. I feel it's wrong when a gold digger deceives the other person and pretends to be in love.

Not really....they're usually 2 of a kind. I think people can be "used" for their beauty as much as they can be used for their money. We all have things to bring to the table and we all have things that are important to us when we're looking.

No. I don't know people who do that and would not bother with them. I just stay away from people who would get on my nerves like that.
