I don't think it would be a problem. Scarlett brings to mind a true red, while red hair is more of an auburn. I don't think it would be bad at all. And Scarlett is a beautiful name!

No. I think Scarlett is a beautiful name for a child with red hair. It's much better than giving the name to one with dark hair or blonde, because then it just makes no sense at all. Can you imagine a little girl with jet black hair being called Blondie or Ginger? That would look a little weird. I'm sure it has probably happened though. lol :-)

I think that Scarlett is a very pretty, classic sounding name... also, if you look at this link...

it's not very popular.. which means she'd probably be the only Scarlett in her entire class all the way through school!
I say go for it, red hair or not.

in case you like the call, then why don't you? there is often going to be a advise newborn who will make relaxing of the others, and if it is no longer their call, it is going to likely be their shoes or their haircut or their well-liked playground sport. while you're particularly frightened approximately it, you could make Scarlett her center call. the lady from long gone With the Wind became into particularly Katie Scarlett O'Hara, and that they pronounced as her Scarlett.

I think it's a cute idea. My hubby is a red head. My mom keeps saying that if I had a baby it would more than likely be a red head, too. So I started thinking of names that had something to do with "red"...

Ruby, Scarlet, Ginger, Rose, and even Red (for a boy), lol.

I am in highschool, and have a friend named Scarlett. She has red hair and has never said anything about being teased. I wouldn't worry about it. Teach your child to be strong and to love herself and she will love her name like you do.

If she's born with red hear, then from day one you'd have to drill it into her that she's beautiful, smart and confident and that everyone should be envious that she was named for her beauty.

When she's in school, she will carry that attitude with her, so that no one will even think twice about calling her names, but will only admire her and think that she's a magical princess who was so lucky to have had been born with hair that matches her name.

Good luck.

I think it's great! I can't see her being bullied for it. Besides, she could even have a hero, Scarlett O'Hara!
