Well there are chances someone got hit. Because once you a while you hear something on the news on how someone died because of a stray bullet. Oh what would we do without gravity.

confident, of course. All gadgets are laid low with gravity, for this reason a bullet shot into the sky will finally be pulled decrease back to earth by potential of gravity. A bullet fired right away up won't land on the proper spot it develop into fired by a number of aspects jointly as a bullet fired at an attitude ought to finally end up miles away. weapons could never be fired in to the air for any reason due the unknown region of the place the bullet will land and the threat it poses to people, animals, and supplies.

The bullet will reach terminal velocity before hitting the ground or someones head. For bullets of the same shape and density: Mass is proportional to the cube of diameter; energy on impact is proportional to mass times the square of the terminal velocity; terminal velocity is proportional to the square of diameter. So a .44 caliber bullet will fall with about 128 times as much energy as a .22 having the same shape and density.

A .22 will bounce off your head and make you say hmmm. A .44 will kill you.

Gerald, that's quite a trick; if the penny doesn't kill you, getting to the ground ahead of it certainly will.

muzzle velocity is quite high going up, but bullets are small and light, so they incurr a LOT of air resistance, slowing down to a stop in midair, then coming back down... now, as they are starting from rest, they accellerate normally until terminal velocity... dunno for a bullet but not too high. I GUESS it could kill someone, but doubt it would be ANYTHING like the original muzzle velocity.

"Based on the results of these tests it was concluded that the bullet return velocity was about 300 f.p.s. For the 150 gr. bullet this corresponds to an energy of 30 foot pounds. Earlier the Army had determined that, on the average, it required 60 foot pounds of energy to produce a disabling wound. Based on this information, a falling 150 gr. service bullet would not be lethal, although it could produce a serious wound."

I remember the mythbusters checked that out. It depends on the angle of the weapon. If the bullets are fired straight up, they'll fall harmlessly back to earth. However, if the weapon is angled, then the bullets may have enough velocity coming down, to kill someone. The steeper the angle when the weapon is fired, the less likely the bullets are to harm someone.

There was a Mythbusters episode on this in one of their earlier seasons. I suggest you watch it.

As I recall, they showed that a bullet launched into the air at less than a 90 degree angle (totally vertical) could go in a parabolic arch and hit the ground with lethal velocity. If the gun is perfectly vertical when shot then this isn't the case, but it's unlikely that someone could have their gun at 90 degrees while firing it.

The bullets will come down. The odds of them hitting someone on the head depend on the population density of the area they were fired from. As well as the number of bullets fired.

the bullets will fall back down and it could hurt someone.
you should shoot the gunman before anyone gets hurt, you will become a hero and there will be a big parade just for you.

On TV- they shoot Blanks. In real life- you pray you're not under one of those Bullets when it comes down. It's alot safer to watch Gunmen -on TV. :)

DROP A PENNY FROM THE 50TH FLOOR OF A BUILDING ON TO YOUR HEAD. THIS WILL GIVE YOU A GOOD IDEA AS TO WHY SHOOTING AIMLESSLY INTO THE AIR IS NOT ONLY STUPID BUT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!
