I recall the evening well, in fact it was a stormy night of November. When I heard a slight tap on the door, hardly audible,
There was a chrome steel chain fixed on the latch, so I knew it was relatively safe. But still I opened the door slowly; why he chose my home I do not know, such a big old house with no electric then, the door creaked on its hinges.
I felt a cold shudder as I looked down at his feet, black shining shoes, possibly, but no I thought it could never be, not he, surely not, they said he was...but then I looked up, and yes it was the very face I saw reflected in his shoes under the moon light as bats flitted in and out of the dark woods, and heard the echoe of a cat that meaowed somehwere in the alley way, and what sounded like a bin lid crashed to the floor.
However: this man was of gigantic stature. Somehow lit up glowing. I could barely speak and muttered something or other as I was terrified. Yet he had such a hansom appearance, perfectly unnatural, a voice low; lower than any voice I had ever heard, that was ever possible, and so full of charisma. His hair was brushed back neatly.
But I was quite right in my demise, he had polished his shoes with Warren Jet Blacking. This was that very firm Chales Dickens once woked for.
But should you rather not let a stranger in the night enter your home, I certainly would not blame you, no matter how hansom - they are all men underneath the surface.
Cold be something innocent, but may not be, like the River man for instance.
Besides true gentlemen would sleep it ruff, rather than disturb someone in the night.
Had to keep my young brother marching home one evening after coming home from a disco, when we were in our late teens; else he would have froze to death. I let him sleep a little in a telephone box.
But had to get him on his feet again.
I know this may sound childish, but even now at my age; if I go from my Mum's home to mine, (at night time) which is only 5 minutes walk she always phones to ask if I have arrived home safely. Sometimes she askes me to phone her when I get in.
But there is nothing childish or immature about taking care these days.
Sure you have heard many stories of those who never made it home safely.
Take care!.

That would depend...On how good looking...:) If you are serious...and someone did and you dn't know him...you are chancing that whilst your asleep...man with supposEd broke down car...could be a robber, rapest...Trust...Noone...Other than yourself...maybe let the guy use your phone to call someone for help but to let him Crash out there and you don't know him...that is just pure insanity on your part unless your playing the fantasy hottie knocking at the door game... :) Good Luck with that...

First of all, I live alone and would not answer my door at night. If he kept knocking, I would probably call my neighbor and ask him to come over and see what this guy wanted.

Probably call the cops and let them take him somewhere to stay. Ted Bundy was supposedly a VERY good-looking man...

No, because Ted Bundy was very nice looking. I'd offer to call him a cab through the closed door.

Im a guy, so if it was a girl that came to my door instead, i would definitely keep that person home.. But remember, you don't know the person, and you don't know what he's capable of. Keep caution. Maybe you guyz mite hit it off.. ;)

it's not practical to just let people in anymore. what if during the night he robbed you or he raped you? huh?
what would you say then? Instead, get some help for him so he could go on his own way...there's no need to let him in you house- he's a stranger, for pete's sake.

Not sure. Maybe I would say no because you never know how the other person must be, or if other people lived with me, maybe I would say yes and be very careful.
