1) (20 - x) / 3 = x / 2

or

2) 20 - x/3 = x/2

Question 1
2(20 - x) = 3x
40 - 2x = 3x
40 = 5x
x = 8

Question 2
20 - x/3 = x/2
120 - 2x = 3x
5x = 120
x = 24

20 - (x/3) = x/2
x/3 + x/2 = 20
6(x/3 + x/2) = 6(20)
2x + 3x = 120
5x = 120
x = 120/5
x = 24
