Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but doesn't this read, 9x to the power of negative four equals zero? Therefore, doesn't x have to equal zero??

Step One: (1/9x^4)=0 --> gets rid of the negative power

Step Two: 9*(1/9x^4)=9*0 --> gets rid of fraction

Step Three: 9x^4=0

Step Four: x=0 --> has to, since only 0^4=0.

I got no solution because if you divide 0 by 9, you get x^-4=0 and x^-4 is the same as 1/x^4, and if you multiply x^4 by zero on the other side, you get 1=0 which is impossible. Therefore, there's no solution.

9x² - 4 = 0

That's the difference of two squares, so the solution is

( 3x + 2 ) ( 3x - 2 ) = 0

The roots are x = 2/3 and x = -2/3.

9x^-4 is the same as 1/(9(x^4)) therefore x needs to be approaching infinity for the statement to be true. Don't be fooled. x is NOT equal to zero.
