A new car? Did "we" prevent Iraq's multiple squadrons of stealth bombers from reaching these shores? Or was it his fleet of battleships and nuclear subs? I mean, after a trillion dollars and four years of occupation, we got something out of the deal right?

Mahal (below) Bush has requested yet another $200 billion on top of the numerous other requests for $180 billion, $140 billion, $170 billion, $80 billion, and more specifically for the current lie-based occupation/reconstruction. Facts hurt.

I'd like to know who would pay America back if we had a coward like Kerry/Gore or a traitor like you, who would NEVER EVER defend the USA and had several re-occurrences of 911 because the terrorists know that a democratic administration would do nothing but talk, talk and talk BUT never defend the USA, regardless of the circumstances. So, Bush made a mistake going into Iraq! SO, your false logic would have us believe because your ideology opposed anything Bush did, right or wrong, because Iraq has gone badly, socialism is validated. All the socialist bile and lies, are now true? Hah! Reading your question, it's obvious that you are a socialist and are trying to manipulate other liberals to buy into your socialist rant. Here's the real question- If socialism is so great, why do you have to trick people into accepting it?

Hey, you should be greatful... Big corporations with administration ties, such as Halliburton & Blackwater, have made billions from this war. That is how we make America great - put as much money as possible into big corporations and the pockets of the wealthiest Americans (and foreigners who do business here).
You see, that way they can afford to hire more people (at less money, of course). And not ALL of those new jobs will be in India or Singapore, so if you're real lucky you might just have a job next year too - and so will your wife & kids, who may have to get a job to help pay for medical care, fuel, food, housing, and of course all those tax cuts for those wealthy Americans and corporations.
So we need to pour those billions of dollars into defense contractors and other big business. That way maybe, just maybe, a little of that money will find its way back to your own pocket. Then, of course, you can pay even more in taxes in order to support Halliburton, Blackwater, Honeywell, Standard Oil, Exxon, and the wealthy investors who own them (including the Bush and Cheney families).
And if it takes a little torture or a few little white lies (say about WMD's for example) to accomplish that, maybe a few thousand lives, then whatever it takes to consolidate wealth and power for the greater glory of America and to protect our Homeland! Seig Heil!
Just think of how wonderful your life would be if Bush, Cheney, Gulliani, Huckabee or Thompson - and all their wealthy contributors, didn't pay any taxes at all...
Or not...
ADDED: - Daniel, you call THIS stability in the middle east? LOL... Thank God that Bush has got such a good handle on things or we might be in a real quagmire over there...

You get a star for this question! The people who answered honestly are so right, but those who can actually defend our invasion of Iraq amaze me. The only beneficiaries of this war are the contractors like Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, etc. and those who have contracts with the oil in northern Iraq, like Cheney, the Bush family and their cronies. And, while the trillion dollars, or more, is a lot, the price paid by our young military is higher. Those who have died, and the thousands wounded, including Iraqis,, was the ultimate price.

"When war becomes literally continuous, it also ceases to be dangerous. When war is continuous there is no such thing as military necessity. Technical progress can cease and the most palpable facts can be denied or disregarded. As we have seen, researches that could be called scientific are still carried out for the purposes of war, but they are essentially a kind of daydreaming, and their failure to show results is not important. Efficiency, even military efficiency, is no longer needed." -- Emmanuel Goldstein, OLIGARCHICAL COLLECTIVISM

I think each American citizen owes $30,000 from this war, but I think if you leave the country you dont have to pay it back.
Can you imagine if the debt followed you???
really sucks, that money could have been used for research which would also help the economy.
