my buddy is selling me his 86 camero it needs a new distributor. im debating on weather its worth the money or not im paying for the dis. for him to put in. im normallly a mustang guy but i thought hey wat the hell it cant hurt its got a 305 i believe big block in it. with a bran new clutch. his tranny mounts are dead he used a ratchet strap to get the tranny to stay in place. the interior is like new. all redone. a few dents and creases on quarter pannels and one on the hood. but im all about power i would easily give him like 400 just for the 305. am i stupid or no??? please explain. it'll be my first car.

a 305 is a small block engine and for 900 bucks that s not bad buy,but it needs to be running paying 900 for something that you cant test drive isn't a good idea,it may have more wrong with it than you think, and the 305 isn't a power house of an engine, you can buy those anywhere,so think about it before you buy it,if you,ll pay 400 a piece for that 305 i got about 4 of those i,ll sell you,for that price,305 is a common engine and can be found anywhere, good luck.

The 305 is a small block. And yes they can get great fuel economy if you keep your foot out of it. And with the trans held down with the ratchet strap means who ever put the trans in did not want to pay a few bucks for a proper trans mount. Plus you don't know what else is wrong with it. Forget it, It's not worth it!

Sounds like a huge pile of junk. Go for it. You'll learn valuable skills from owning that Carmeeemero that'll serve you for the rest of your life.

A horrible car is an important formative influence on a young man. It was for me. Today, I can fix anything, and I mean any thing.
