Is increasingly obvious that the GOP is acutely aware that in this coming election, along with their other liabilities, for the first time in memory they will not have a financial advantage in campaign funds. The Democrats have raised more money.
On the other hand there is no better organization than the Evangelicals when it comes to major fund raising. This is well out of the league of just passing the plate.
Does the name Tammy Lee baker ring a bell? She had her own major theme park. They peddle prosperity beads and healing cloths on prime time major TV networks and those spots are not cheep. In the old days they placed their hands on your head now it is in your pockets. When Huckabee needed ready cash he hooked up with major tobacco. The Evangelicals who have been asked to appear before congress, and should be siphoned shortly are being investigated for their tax exempt status. This is major league money.

Now the question is: they did not get all the control they wanted by just delivering votes. What will they demand if they deliver both the votes and the money? Everyone on your knees will move out of the church and on to the streets, the schools and our places of work. Are you ready for this?

If Huckabee is nominated, fundraising by the evangelical will surpass the collections of the Democrats since it could simply be coiursed through the pastors.

The GOP has been left in shambles by the Bush legacy. Just one of the results is the current crop of such poor GOP candidates that even Republicans can't settle on which one they want to send on to take the almost certain fall for the last 8 years. Huckabee has the advantage of being a relative unknown with few direct connections to that legacy that Americans are so weary of - That; Combined with the ease at which he's at with the evangelical base; Seems to be raising him to the top of the weak field. I really think he has a chance to be the nominee; So it's all a quite different phenomenon from Dean in 04. But he will appear quite bland when matched against most of the Democratic top tier.

So long as the Democrats do not nominate Hillary; I think they can fairly handily beat any of the GOP field. If it is Hillary, however; It will be unnecessarily and potentially disastrously close. The Democrats will have the issues on their side regardless; But history has shown that Americans vote for the candidate as much or more as the issues, And Hillary is neither liked nor likable...

"Mike Huckabee is the latest from the GOP sewer

It’s no surprise Mike Huckabee is the latest serious contender for the Republican presidential nomination. Turds always rise to the top of a sewer and the GOP has been a political cesspool for far too long.

For too long, I took my money and looked the other way but I can never escape the shame of being a part of the GOP political system."

That's a quote from Republican Doug Thompson

I heard one great quote earlier today, "both Republicans and Democrats are battling themselves in this primary election. They find that they want change and that's why they like Huckabee and Obama... but they also realize that in order to win the general election, they need someone with a record and experience... so they're torn. In their heart they want someone like Huckabee or Obama, but their mind wants Rudy or Clinton."

I say, follow your heart. Huckabee is a great guy that knows what it's like to be an average American.

I am afraid he might be.... I don't think he is electable. I like him- but I don't think he can win.

Every time he's on TV I see Jimmy Carter reincarnate.

And this is from a hard core conservative. Just being honest.
