Minneapolis, Minnesota is the top-ranked city in terms of the availability of affordable housing combined with world-class cultural offerings. Apparently their economy is growing as is the availability of jobs. The cost of living is relatively low.
Public education is very good even though they don't pay teachers enough. Hope this helps...

Colorado has got to be by far the best state to live in. One of the highest ranking states for public education...great schools and many to choose from. It is the third fastest growing state in the country and there are just endless jobs available and lots to do. We are the healthiest state in the nation and have a one of a kind medical services. The housing here is a little more then average but having the Rocky Mountains outside your window make up for it. Whats about the city of Denver and the urban corridor is that you can enjoy you big city life while seeing nature out your wndow and you dont have to live in less populated areas like Montana or Utah to enjoy the mountains. And the diversity and culture here is to die for!

well, as far as im concerned, and to my knowledge, i dont know which state is ranked highest in public ed, cleanliness, rec, jobs...

however, i know that you're better off NOT living in the south-midwest just because the jobs out there arnt too great...ive read that cities such as Dallas, Tuscon, to name a few are growing rapidly, as are their surrounding suburbs.

i know that smaller cities, which can at times tend to be more liberal and have close knit communities such as Davis, California, a college town with a university that is always ranked in the top 40 of public higher institutions are a great place to raise children. I am also well aware that Davis, has ranked very high in their school district with in the state of california in reguards to tests scores.

while jobs in the area are somewhat scarce, limited to those who work at the university, college students, and locals, Sacramento is only 15-20 miles away, and the bay area (Berkeley, San Francisco) is only about an hour away.

i hope that helps.

Texas is booming now. The housing and cost of living is low. It is warm almost year round.

Public education is good in certain areas and you have to research that.
