you're probably thinking the front control arm - I'd actually recommend taking this to a body shop and having the insurance deal with it, it may have bent the engine cradle, CV axle, Tie Rod, and maybe even the strut itself.
Most important, do NOT lie to your insurance company, sliding and hitting a curb is an accident, lying to your insurance company is fraud.

Keerap. I had an accident that caused me to hit the curb and the wheel bent up under the car. That cost $3000 to fix, and my car is a front wheel drive. I had to use the insurance company and wished to Gawd I hadn't. All I could afford at the time was the deductible, and they raised my premiums. Only reason your car would be totaled is if your car isn't worth at least $3000 . Mine was a $25,000 car that was only 6 months old.

I am not familiar with the car but unless it is a 4x4 it usually wont have a front "Axle" ,
Ir it is steering badly or the steering wheel is off centre or wobbling i would take it in to get repaired,
I have had damage to the front end fROM hitting a concrete block in a shopping centre , the insurance covered it
repairs cost about $1500:00

Call your insurance company ASAP and fabricate a story on how it got bent. Tell them you were on driving down the street, and this pickup truck in front of you had something fall off the back and immediately rolled under and beneath your car, and you immediately pulled over to the sideto inspect the damage, where you find it had bent your drive axle. The pickup truck that had caused the damage was not aware something had fallen off, and he continued down the road, and you never got the license plate.

If your lucky its just a bent lower control arm, and if your not so lucky you could have bent the subframe and other parts. Lucky is 300 or less not so lucky can be 600 or more, you need to check with a honest frame or alignment shop.

if it is front wheel drive the axels are about 150 each, and to put it in will take about 2 hours at 70 bucks per hour labor

Are you sure it is bent? Take it to a front end mechanic to be sure first.
