Mostly people who just left home until they get established. Once they have a few dollars saved they can get away from it, for some that can take a year or two. Some seem to like the excitement of spending every extra cent so keep it up for life even when elderly they never have an emergency fund.

I probably should be living paycheck to paycheck with my income, but I don't. As long as you know what you need to spend and what you earn nobody should really live paycheck to paycheck unless they really are earning the minimum wage of the state they are in, or they get in some sort of mess (which happens, and sometimes can't be controlled). Live somewhere cheaper, get rid of your car, don't have cable/internet, get a cheap cell phone plan, and enjoy everything else life has to offer besides just stuff.

Yes I live paycheck to paycheck. I have been out of highschool 6 years and this year is the first year it's been like this for me. I got out of hand with spending money for about 6 months and now i'm left with 9k in debt. I hope to change this by next Christmas and for anyone who thinks the more you make the more you spend its true but if you really focus on saving and follow what Dave Ramsey says I beleive you can change your fincial future.

I am very fortunate to have a husband who does make a good living for us---with the downside that he is always gone. My sister lives paycheck to paycheck, and I can't imagine the struggles she goes through when they are wondering if her son is going to have food on the table...she is VERY independent and stubborn, so does it on her own...power to the folks that deal with such things! Seriously.....more people do it than just kids that just moved out-some people just aren't qualified for much and decide to settle.

we live paycheck to paycheck. i went to a pay jump of 1k-2k per week (for the past year) from under 500 per week (year prior) and still we lived paycheck to paycheck.
as suze orman said - the more money you make the more you spend.. the less money you think you make the less you spend (even when you make more).
