For the first one, bisecting means that the resulting angles are the same. You're given the measures of the two angles, so all you have to do is set them equal to each other and solve for x:

6x + 2 = 8x - 6
8 = 2x
x = 4

So if x = 4, then the smaller angles (
The second one is substitution - if a = b and b = c then a = c. You're basucally substituting c for b to come up with the last equation.

The last one makes you remember what a complement and a supplement are. A complement is the angle subtracted from 90 degrees, and a supplement is the angle subtracted from 180. So if the complement of an angle is 78, then the angle itself has to be 12 - they have to add up to 90 to be complementary angles.
