I think their pitching is fine the way it is.

That way, Boston can win the AL east, Cleveland and Detroit can take the central and the wildcard and everyone is happy.

I don't believe the Yankees need pitching badly, but with Pettitte's status in question, and the bad health of Carl Pavano, it still should be addressed in some way

For some reason, people think that Danny Haren is the only good pitcher on the A's staff...but there's also Joe Blanton! Obviously, the A's are dumping their guys that are gonna get more expensive, and they are starting to rebuild, so getting Blanton or even Rich Harden (if the Yankees want to gamble) won't be too hard. Getting Bedard isn't worth it, cuz the Orioles will ask too much for him. Same with A.J. Burnett. However, there are still a couple free-agent gambles that could go either way...Freddy Garcia, Livan Hernandez, and Bartolo Colon catch my eye

And don't rule out Santana...yet.

If you take these three out of the equation then the only decent pitcher that's left is Erik Bedard. No doubt he would be a very good acquisition for New York, but unfortunately Baltimore will want way too much in return for Bedard like Minnesota with Santana. Once Bedard is out of the equation, there isn't squat for decent starting pitching out there.

What about Hughes, Kennedy and Chamberlain? Those three are supposed to team up with Wang and Pettite to save the day? The Red Sox did it with Lester, Matsuzaka and will be relying more on Buchholz in 2008. For years the Yankees have been "the best team money can buy", but the Steinbrenner sons don't seem as willing to spend as their father. Developing players from within is really the best way to win.
