The software itself is not likely to give you a virus but some of the content that people send through it might. That is why I deleted mine from the computer. Too risky.

If you download it from the aim site and not some fake one it wont give you a virus.

ok little miss I'll give you a hand. Do not click yes to anything you do not know while on Internet explorer. It gives you virus' and causes spyware to load onto your computer. Download and uses fire fox. After reformatting my computer 2 times to a virus from IE i downloaded Fire fox and used that. Also get a good virus protection program. Email me if you dont know what to get. Umm also download Spybot search and destroy. It will clean out whatever spyware is on your computer.

the program lots and lots of people use wont give you a virus..

It would install AIM on your computer, which is only slightly better than a virus anyway.
