Don't they know , they're all we have to help keep our government from becoming a tyrannical beast ?
"Contrary to the UN propaganda, the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right and, according to the drafters of the Constitution, the guardian of every other right. ...
Gun control also increases the odds that people will lose their lives and liberties to power-hungry government officials. Tyrannical governments throughout the world kill approximately 2,000,000 people annually. Many of these victims of tyranny were first disarmed by their governments. If the UN is successful in implementing a global regime of gun control, more innocent lives will be lost to public (and private) criminals.
I would remind my colleagues that policies prohibiting the private ownership of firearms were strongly supported by tyrants such as Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung. ..."

Excellent quote from the good doctor - Ron Paul! How anyone can put him down when he is one of the greatest defenders of our Constitution is quite beyond me.
To answer your question, the U.N. and its elite supporters are very anti-American. Disarming Americans, phasing out our Constitution and setting up a one-world socialist totalitarian government are all on their agenda. The purpose of having the right to bear arms is so that "We the People" will remain in power over the government and be able to defend ourselves. The fact that they want to take that right away can only mean one thing: tyranny. The idea of gun control should really provoke fear in all of us. But in the wake of all these school/mall shootings that are hyped up by the (controlled) mass media, people are beginning to support the idea. The media is a very powerful tool that they use to manipulate the masses. They try to give the false illusion that a criminal who would use a gun is not the real problem, but that the gun itself is a problem. By instilling a sense of fear about guns in the general population and then painting world government and gun control in a positive light, they prepare the public to accept the plans they have for us: total enslavement.
The truth us, guns maintain freedom. If we don't want to surrender our freedoms, then we shouldn't surrender our guns. Our forefathers who drafted the Constitution had the insight to realize that power can corrupt even the greatest of people, and they designed our Constitution with checks and balances to make it hard for officials to misuse power. The U.N. and its advocates do not believe in a system of checks and balances and they refuse to recognize any higher authority than themselves. They are on a crusade to destroy national sovereignty and create an all powerful world superstate.

The United States ranks with such models of democracy and humanity as Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Afghanistan , the Yemen and Pakistan as one of the greatest gun-happy cultures in the world. Why anyone would think the UN would want to take away your guns is incomprehensible and , I suppose , just another indication of the paranoia and insecurity of the gun fanatics.

That's how all fascist states or organizations begin their moves against civilian resistance to totalitarian domination.
The UN has repeatedly forcibly ejected visitors wearing pro-second amendment t-shirts while allowing the display of symbols and slogans of terrorist and pro-terrorist organizations.
IMHO, the 9/11 hijackers had a target far easier to hit . . . it's a pity they didn't take that opportunity.

i like Ron Paul, but disagree with him on the UN, i have never heard of the UN trying to take away our guns. And even if they passed some kind of resolution, it would be up to the USA to sign-on, or ratifiy it as law, which wouldnt happen.

Contrary to what "Arcanum Noctis" said, what with all the "big government" people in this nation, we might just give our sovereignity away to something like the U.N., but if they come after my guns, they'll have to grab them barrell first, and they're fully loaded, and I'll have my hand on the grip and my finger on the trigger. God Bless you.

I don't give a rat's *** what the UN has to say, about pretty much anything. But let 'em come for my guns, I reload and have ammo for YEARS. It'll be like the fourth of July.

Guns must be used by citizens to protect themselves. Thus, the UN must not completely ban guns if these are used for valid reasons.

The U.N. doesn't have that type of power over us. We are a sovereign country. Thats like them telling us we can't have our constitution anymore, because they don't like it.

Why does the U.N. want to take away our guns? Probably because it's difficult to herd people into concentration camps while they are shooting back.
