Selig could have resolved this mess a long time ago. Turning his back on the Bonds issue just so baseball could make additional revenue of the "home run race" was nothing short of criminal. The Mitchell Report was nothing more than a vehicle to cover up Selig's incompetency as commissioner.
A total waste of time and money. Money that the fans will eventually pay through higher ticket prices.

Not only is Selig too late in his alignment with Mitchell over the issue, he's had the better part of 14 years to address the issue instead of letting it go this far. Actions against the use of steroids in baseball go back nearly 20. Selig has held is position since 1992 yet did nothing until Federal Government involvement was on the horizon.
My whole issue with this is that Selig will probably be allowed to save face by stepping to the plate finally. If the fans and the MLBPA have any sense, they will demand his immediate resignation on the grounds or negligence and incompetence.

Bud Selig is to blame for most of this! He let the situation get to far out of control until it was a farce! He needs to quit as commissioner immediately!

yes, and if he tries to punish based on that report, the league will be sued. i think he's just trying to talk tough about it. he will be hard pressed to have enough evidence to punish anyone and if the offenses happened before mlb's steroid testing began then he doesnt have the right to punish. i also think that if he punishes those in the report he will look like a fool when the tide of other players who used starts to come out. based on everything we know now it seems pretty clear that steroid use was very wide spread, many many more than the 85 named in that report. what about the dealers not dumb enough to get caught or the players not dumb enough to pay with personal checks and have the drugs shipped to their house.

I think that the report was useless. It didnt solve anything. All I hear about is Roger Clemens, understandable but what about Miguel Tejada. And there is only only three "major names". The two I named and Andy Pettitte. And all whole lot of retired nobody's.

Never to late to correct a bad problem like this. Let us clean it up for the generations to come. These guys have soiled it for the good game it was.

at least now it forces selig to do something about steroids. just demand that every player submit a blood test before spring training. if a player refuses, he obviously has something to hide. at least then you can test for HGH.

Well, since it wasn't your time that was used, why do you care?
It only took up 20 minutes of your life to hear the report (if you listened that is).
Yes, it's sad that we (the fans) are so enamoured with HR that we think that's the way to win,
we tell our local teams that we want to win,
they pay more for HR hitters,
they try harder to hit HRs
they get paid more if they do,
if it's not natural talent, they resort to chemical talent.
Seems like a vicious circle involving everyone, including the fans.

They have to throw out the records for the entire era in order for them to mean anything. The drug culture covered the entire era in baseball, and many of them might never be fingered. I would close all voting to the Hall of Fame for right now, and not publish the record book, until we can find out more. Many of these athletes will suffer from serious health problems later in life, and the truth will come out then.
