Besides the number of wonderful women I've met through YA, none of whom are close enough geographically for me to date?

I actually get surprised by the opposite when someone actually does something nice for another person. Sad, really.
I was surprised at my boss' X-Mas bash tonight when he called me a lifesaver. Unfortunately he probably meant I'm a small fruity candy.
I tend towards one of Sam Neil's characters on this one...
"Lady, nothing surprises me anymore. We f-ed up the air, the water, we f-ed up each other. Why don't we just finish the job by flushing our brains down the toilet?"

My whole life has been a series of surprises and most of them have not been good ones either, I keep hoping that the New Year will bring a change in that pattern!!
