Don't worry about Brand! Only Pick 1!

My laptop at work is a brand new Toshiba. It runs well and looks good. Things I don't like (like the position of the "del" key) are only minor annoyances.

My laptop at home is a nearly brand new Sony Vaio. It runs well and looks good. The only real problems I've had with it turned out to be bad IT advice and Norton AntiVirus (which is now history).

I'd say go with either. As long as you can upgrade memory on the Vaio and use the usual software, you'll be good either way.

On these set, Toshiba is a better PC with more RAM, faster processor, bigger hard drive, and possible better graphic. The Sony Vaio is a solid built, but a bit behind this Toshiba. The fact, you can pick the one you like and you won't feel sorry about either one. By the way, I own both Toshiba and Sony laptops, and I like them both.

To be honest, the Toshiba has the better specs. I wouldn't worry about the AMD processor either.

You're getting a better "bang for the buck" with the Tosh in my opinion.

Sony is a bit over-priced (but they are "higher end" and you pay for it). I've sold/serviced/used both over the years and while I would love a Sony, I own a Tosh for the reasons above (better bang for the buck)

You'll be fine either way...
